Fundraising Tools
There are many strategies that can help you reach your fundraising goal. Following are just a few ideas.
Local Sponsorships
Local sponsorships can be very helpful in reaching your fundraising requirement or personal goal. Reaching out to community organizations like the Kiwanis, Lion's Club, VFW, and Rotary Club can be helpful not only to raise funds, but to help build awareness around the issue of trauma. Also, you can approach stores like Target, Costco, and Wal-Mart for support. Many runners find that just by asking friends and family to support their participation, they are able to reach the sponsorship goal quickly. Reaching out for support is an important first step.
A local sponsorship form and a team fact sheet are available for your use in securing local support. The fact sheet can be customized with information about you and your involvement on the team and why this issue is so important to you and your community.
Visit the Witness Justice Web site (www.witnessjustice.org) for more about the nature and impact of trauma. Printing and sharing information about the issue will help build awareness.
Media Outreach
Be part of Team Heal Trauma's collective voice! Media outreach in your community can help raise public awareness and provide a boost to your team fund-raising efforts.
The Team Heal Trauma sample press release provides a good starting point for you to customize and distribute information about your participation to your local media. Click here to find and contact local and national media.
Contact information for your local news media will be listed within the publication or can be found by visiting the organization's Web site or phoning the news bureau. After e-mailing or faxing a press release, it is helpful to follow up with a phone call to explore interest in covering the story of your participation in this important national event.
